I put the finishing touches on WITH US IN A NEW WAY and sent it on Monday (March 2nd) to Mike Lueth, since he was the genesis of this cosmic probe.

I suppose—no, in fact—I was looking for some anchor for the possibly insane deep feeling in my gut that the veil between This Side and the Other Sideis vulnerably thin.

He assured me I was not crazy to think that one day, if there was a Critical Mass among the Collective Us, the veil between This Side and The Other Side could come down.

Mike shared these additional thoughts and observations

I have always thought that the coming down of the veil may not be ‘one day;’ but that it could be ‘today.’  In John 10:10, Jesus talks about how we can have life and have it abundantly.  Some think he may have been talking about the afterlife: heaven.   I think he was talking about now.

Lazarus’ four days in the tomb-he was only sleeping.  The same with Jairus’ daughter—not dead, only sleeping.

Jesus said we would do greater things than He.

Jesus was connected to the Father.

Jesus possessed the power of this Critical Mass you’re alluding to/pursuing.

How do we do the same?

Ah, the supreme question-the challenge.

Early the next morning—several hours before I posted With Us In A New Way on WMSB and sent it to the Tribe —I got an email from my good friend, fraternity-in-loss brother and another muse, Jeff Schwartz.  There was no message.  Just the subject line:   For All The Children-“Loving Spirits Will Live Forever”   and a link to a song

This beautiful song was written in 2002 by Pat Humphries, recorded by her group, Emma’s Revolution, and has been covered by many.

I don’t think I’d heard it before, and if I did, I’m sure I didn’t pay attention to the lyrics.  [Full lyrics are at the end of this post]

I thanked Jeff for sending the song and let him know these verses really jumped out to me:

When we get there we’ll discover,
All the gifts we were given to share
Have been with us since life’s beginning
And we never noticed they were there.

We can balance on the brink of wisdom
Never recognizing we’ve arrived
We’re all swimming to the other side.

I also sent him the draft of With Us In A New Way.

He too would have been in a bit of a shock that we both had the Other Side on our minds were this our first rodeo.  [We’ve shared several of Jeff’s experiences on WMSB including WHY I BELIEVE IN ANGELS]

Instead, we both smiled, shrugged and raised our palms to the sky.

Hungering for answers in my time.
I’m impatient to receive a sign. We are washed by the very same rain.

Here’s another rendition of the song performed by The Mystic Chorale in Boston.

Lot’s of food for thought. Jeff, thanks for the great share my friend!

SWIMMING TO THE OTHER SIDE
By Pat Humphries

We are living ‘neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain

We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we’re all swimming to the other side.

I am alone and I am searching
Hungering for answers in my time
I am balanced at the brink of wisdom
I’m impatient to receive a sign.

I move forward with my senses open
Imperfection it be my crime
In humanity I will listen
We’re all swimming to the other side.

We are living ‘neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we’re all swimming to the other side

On this journey through thoughts and feeling
Finding intuition, my head my heart
I am gathering the tools together
I’m preparing to do my part

All of those who have come before me band together and be my guide
Loving lessons that I will follow

We are living ‘neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we’re all swimming to the other side

When we get there we’ll discover all of the gifts we were given to share
Have been with us since life’s beginning and we never noticed they were there
We can balance at the brink of wisdom
Never recognizing we’ve arrived
We’re all swimming to the other side

We are living ‘neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we’re all swimming to the other side
Loving spirits will live forever we’re all swimming to the other side
